Post Thirty: A nice, true story

So a file clerk was telling me about her experience at a bank. Apparently, there was a new teller handing out money when she cashed a check. The file clerk gathered the money, left the bank, and got to her car. There, she re-counted the money and realized that the teller gave her $200 too much.

Well, what would you do? I hate to say it, but depending on my day I might have just pocketed the cash and chalked it up to, "her fault, not mine." Well, the file clerk considered doing just that: she doesn't make a lot of money, and God knows the $200 would have come in handy. But she knew, as a Christian, that it was the wrong thing to do: it might of cost the teller her job. So she goes back into the bank and tells the teller what happened. The teller is extremely grateful, and actually comes around the counter to hug the file clerk, thanking her profusely.

Well, the next day the clerk stops at a gas station, fills up and goes in to pay. While in there, she notices that Texas has a scratch off lottery game called "Break the Bank." [Stop me if you can see where this is going.] On a whim, she buys a scratch off ticket.

Guess what: she won $200 on the card. No bullshit. I saw the card.

I got chills as she was telling me the story. Not to get too religious on anyone, but God was obviously rewarding her honesty. And I can't really think of anyone who deserved it more.

Post Twenty-nine: Status of the week

I'm tired. Tired, tired, tired. Two weeks in trial, followed by a deposition I had to take yesterday that was dropped on me on Friday. Just been a crazy new year. At least my hours are going to be really good.

Am currently trying to get an old friend of mine a job in Dallas. Hopefully this will work out. Everyone from my undergrad ended up back in San Antonio or Houston, it seems, so it would be kind of cool to have a college buddy in the area.

That's about all I have today. Serenity is the greatness. Go buy it.
